Experience the Assante Advantage

About Us

We are a multi-generational team of advisors who focus on developing deep-rooted relationships. Our purpose is to make wealth management elegantly simple and empower our clients to achieve ‘lifestyle for lifetime’.

Our Mission

Genea (pronounced je?NAY?ah) is derived from the ancient Greek word meaning generations. At Genea Wealth, our goal is to ensure that your family is well-positioned to handle everything that life brings your way. We believe that your financial picture should not be looked at in isolation; it should incorporate your entire family. We have experience with many of life’s transitions: from planning your children’s education, to helping you prepare for retirement, to making sure you and your parents are taken care of in your golden years. We work with you to focus on what is important to you and what you can control. Over the course of a long-term relationship, we will support you in building and maintaining your ‘lifestyle for lifetime’.

At Genea Wealth, we are here to guide generations and build your wealth.

Our Team

With years of experience behind us, we’ve got a well-seasoned team ready at the helm for you. Our team will work hard to empower you and your finances.

Behind the Scenes

The Genea team started out as a family business, and we try to continue that dynamic as we continue to evolve as a team. At Genea, we foster a supportive and nurturing environment, promoting genuine relationships. Whether in or out of the office, we believe that being close with one another is the key to working effectively as a team.

Doug Leard

CFP®, CPCA – Senior Wealth Advisor

How many thirteen-year-old landowners do you know — especially ones who purchased that land with their own hard-earned paper route money? Well, now you have met someone who did just that.

Expertise

Doug works with his clients over the long term, and they rely on him to guide them through the finer details of their overall financial picture. In particular, Doug helps his clients enter retirement gently. He understands that changes, even wonderful ones, can be tough to deal with if they happen abruptly.

Doug has a wealth of experience as a financial advisor and is very involved in the entire wealth management process. From relationship building to actual financial advice, Doug takes the time to listen to his client’s comments, wishes, and concerns in order to guide them towards achieving the lifestyle they desire.

Worth Noting

Outside of the office, Doug enjoys spending time with his friends and family, as well as vacationing at his property on Mayne Island. Doug has always led an active lifestyle, and he likes to maintain his health and fitness whether working out, going for walks, or getting outdoors when he gets the chance.

Jason Ferguson

CFP®, BA, MA – Wealth Advisor

After years working at large financial institutions, Jason was left disenchanted with the financial industry. He felt there had to be something better out there than simply pushing the product of the day. He wanted to help people by providing valuable advice, and from almost the moment he met Doug and his wife Melanie in 2006, he realized that Genea was a team where he could practice comprehensive wealth management and put his clients first.

Expertise

Jason has worked in the financial sector for over two decades. His passion for service and curiosity about his clients are at the heart of the experience he provides. He welcomes being involved in his clients’ lives to help them achieve positive results. Jason provides advice to working professionals, retirees, and their families, assisting them in all aspects of their finances and financial affairs. Focusing on the areas of wealth preservation, tax mitigation, charitable giving and wealth transfer, he provides investment consulting and advanced planning to his clients so that they can make smart decisions about their money.

Background

When he is not corralling his children, Jason enjoys being physically active, whether it be working out in the gym, running outdoors, or walking the trails throughout the Lower Mainland. He also enjoys reading non-fiction books on a variety of subjects, indulging his passion for History and current affairs. Jason often thinks about his past spent living and working overseas and dreams of traveling again, once his children are old enough to do so.
